About

Andrew Schoultz’s paintings, drawings, murals and large-scale installations combine meticulous rendering with imagery both familiar and fantastical. Schoultz uses symbols and iconography such as medieval renderings, the eye on a U.S. dollar bill, underground comics, 1990s clip art, and graffiti, to inform the public about current social and political issues.

The artist received his BFA from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco. He has had solo exhibitions in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Copenhagen, Philadelphia, Rotterdam, Boston, London, Portland, Detroit and Milan and exhibited in various group shows at The Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburg PA, the Torrance Art Museum, the Havana Biennial, Cuba, Hyde Park Arts Center, IL and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art among others. His work can be seen in the public collections of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Frederick R. Weisman Foundation and Progressive Art Collection, in addition to his publicly funded murals in Portland, Maine, Jogjakarta Indonesia and San Francisco.
