"Through my art, I invite you
to reflect on your own journeys
of growth and transformation.
I hope to inspire you to welcome
change with courage, resilience,
and an open heart."-ANNA HALLDIN-MAULE
Önskedröm, meaning 'wishful dreaming in Swedish, Anna Halldin-Maule's native
language, comprises a series of paintings completed over the past four years, a period marked by profound universal challenges.
Brimming with youthful exuberance and hope, these recent works highlight the
transformative power of change and echo the artist's personal voyage of self-discovery, while honoring her Scandinavian heritage.
Halldin-Maule's mastery is evident throughout each tableau as she infuses her flawless oil-on-linen compositions with the luminosity and enchantment reminiscent of masterpieces by Ingres, Vermeer, and Van Eyck.
Requiring months to complete, each meticulously painted artwork germinates within a bespoke scenario that is carefully staged by Anna and photographed by her husband, photographer Tom Maule.
While exploring concepts of metamorphosis and renewal, the recent compositions collectively explore the inevitability of change emphasizing the beauty of transformation. From the trompe-l'oeil effect of embroidered butterflies in Borrowed Wings to the contemplative mood of Önskedröm, and from the sumptuous, hyper-realist rendering of fur in Vinterljus to the fresh-faced beauty of Rosa Vallmo, each painting captivates and transports its viewer into a realm where wishes and dreams seamlessly intertwine with the tangible world.
Yet beneath the surface allure, the artist unveils her own profound introspections. Drawing from her own aspirations, pursuit of perfection and discovery of one’s true purpose in life, she encourages each of us to pursue our own existential journey.
Anna Halldin-Maule was born in Gothenburg, Sweden. While she formally trained at the Dômens Art Institution in Gothenburg, her artistic efforts were primarily fostered by her grandfather, the celebrated painter Bror Halldin. Exclusively represented by Scott Richards Contemporary Art, her works have been exhibited throughout the US and Europe and are a part of many important private and public collections, including the Seavest Collection in the United States, the Ibex Masters Collection of Realist Art in Germany, and the Balboni Collection in Italy, to name a few.
